Referral from Creative Mamma!

It was such a nice surprise to see one of my favourite tops promoted on the "Creative Mamma" website. The "Floppy Wrap or Maternity Wrap" was featured in Creative Mamma's blog for some "Maternity Fashion Finds". Check out number 2!

My friends know that I live in these tops and have many in different fabrics & colours. I still wear them even though I am not pregant, they are so comfortable and easy to throw on while you run out the door with bub & bags in hand.
Thank you Joy for featuring a HeavenLee Creation on your website. Check out Joy's website "Creative Mamma's" for all mummy & bubby/children things!

Oh... what a few months!

What a winter we have had..... so busy with various trips to PMH, RPH, Dr's, phone calls from Talia's daycare to urgently pick up a sick bub and a major family emergency this week...
In between all the illnesses of the last few months, I have managed to sew quiet a bit... I just have to take some decent pics and get blogging again!!!

Here is a Maternity Dress I made for a client's photography shoot. It is a gorgeous Magenta chiffon flowy dress with a "Cross over" top, gathered under the bust and shirring around the back. It looks amazing on Bec and I was very happy with the end product! The pictures are from Fiona Colvin Photography

I love these pictures!!! Nothing beats a professional photo and gorgeous model.....

Congratulations to Rebecca & Ross on the birth of Wyatt!
Here is my home taken pic...... ummm, no comparison.....

I've had an order through my "Etsy shop" which was very exciting for me and the customer was happy with a perfect fit!!! Thanks for supporting "Handmade" Kellie. I'm also working on another clients dress, which will look great when I have finished! I also want to get some kiddie bathers & rashy's on my "Etsy shop" ready for summer!

Hopefully I can get another post done middle of next week and thanks for everyone for checking my blog!

Cheers Lee-Anne

P.S. Alan you will be missed dearly and were a wonderul brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. We will keep your happy memories alive when Talia grows up. xxxxx

Versatile Dress/Skirt on ETSY

Hi all,

I have added the "Versatile Dress/Skirt" on ETSY today.

Lately I have been working on a "Maternity Line" and I have so many ideas, gosh it's so hard limiting it down to a few pieces! Please let me know if you had a favourite item you loved wearing when you were pregnant.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Gathered V Top

Here is a top I have sewn and wore while I was pregnant. It has a low V neck and nice droopy sleeves, it gathers under the bust to allow for the ever expanding belly while pregnant. It is nice and comfortable and in a jersey fabric.

I dragged it out of the closet again as I am back at work and struggled to find any work clothes to wear. I just added a brown thick tie around under the bust to give the top some figure.

We had a good morning today and had the pleasure of Jeannette Baxter take some professional photo's of Talia, it was for her photography assignment. It got me thinking to have some of my clothes modelled and photographed, so now I have lots to do and I'm getting together some pieces to do a Maternity Line. Very exciting and my mind is going 100 miles a second (or would that be from the coffee....)!!
Or do I do a Baby line first? John had a great name for a Baby line, "Angel Baby" and I think it matches in well with "HeavenLee". If you know our family, it also fits in named after our precious cat(I know, I know, I know..... as my sister & dad have a huge sigh of disgrace). I love it! I betta get sewing before the coffee wears off!!!

Have a nice day everyone.

Halter Wrap Tops

I have a few of these Wrap tops currently available in my Etsy shop. I wear them all the time and find them great with a plain pair of pants/skirt/etc. You can wear them thousands of ways and they are great over a cami/singlet/mesh top. As the neckline is a "V" it makes your torso look long and when worn tied at the belly it gathers hiding any nasty bumps.... These tops are also so easy to store in your wardrobe! I have adjusted the pattern so they can also be made in a Satin for an evening look. I hope you enjoy looking at some pics of my favourite "Halter Wrap Tops" I have made.

Thank you for viewing my blog and keep posted for some "Bubby Leggins" I have cut out ready to go!!

Lots a circles!

I had cut this top out over 6 months ago and it has always been on the bottom of my "To Do" pile.... I dragged it out yesterday after realizing I need more tops to allow for my growing belly and knew this would be a great pattern for it. The pattern has gathering all up the sides, however I used all the gathering down the bottom half of the top. I really like this material and thought brown bands would finish it off nicely.

I think I might be wearing this a lot during my pregnancy. Now I just need some nice comfy brown cavalli pants to match and also allow for my expanding belly!

Cheers,
Lee-Anne

Knot Top 3

I love making this top and it's so simple! Here is another "Knot top" for someone special, my acupunture lady, Michelle!

Michelle has helped me understand why it was so hard for me to fall pregnant and how my body works. With many months of weekly acupunture she got my body working as normal as possible and now we have success! Yippee!

I think if I hadn't been going to acupunture (and a great doctor!) we would still be aimlessly trying... I can't thank you enough, Michelle!

Knot Top 2

Yippee!!!! I got some sewing done over the weekend and boy it felt good! Here is a birthday pressie I made for a friend.
It is in a Black/Navy stretch net material with a nice wool flower pattern on it. The top has a knot which gathers just under the bust and the front opens out. I have put some nice small sleeves to finish it off and I have rolled hem all the edges, gotta love the rolled hem!!

This is my favourite pattern at the moment and I will be making more.

Happy sewing!

Sarong Top

I had seen this beautiful Silk Ciffon material in a georgous yellow and it has a flower sequin pattern on it, but is was over $35 a metre. Everytime I went to the shop I always wanted to buy some and i never knew what to sew in it... I went there the other day and it was all gone!! I always check out the remanent box and I found some down the bottom, about 70cm worth and I knew I could make something out of it! I love remanents!!! I also love sewing with Silk Chiffon, it is one of my favourites and it flows so nicely.

I had an idea to make a top like a sarong, it matched the colour, the flow of the material and something you can dress up or dress down. I wore it to the Cirque Du Soile last Sunday and had a comment from a lady while I was there, so i might put it in my collection....

You can wear the tie to the side or the front

I will also adjust the pattern a bit better, so it can be a versatile sarong skirt!

Let me know if you like this type of top and what you would wear it with?

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Versatile Wrap Top 5

Apologies for not posting in January. I have been busy sewing a dress for a client, today I finished it and I can't wait to post some photo's, but I have to wait until end of Feb..... So I was straight into sewing another top!! It was an easy one, but hey, it got me started again!

Mum bought some of this material and I never really like it until I saw an awesome top she made in it, so I went an bought some and now I love it! It has lots of earthy brown/mustard colours and I will definately be wearing this lots and lots and lots. Mum, I think this material looks great in any style top!
Do you like these Wrap Tops and what would you wear them with? I love to hear other peoples suggestions.......

Hope everyone had a great Australia Day!

Knot Top

After sewing Christmas presents, I was excited to do some sewing for myself again.... Selfish, i know.......

I love sewing out of the stretchy net fabric that is out at the moment and it is in some wonderful patterns & colours. Here is a V-neck top that comes down into a knot at the front. I curved the hem at the front, so it did not box me off at my pear shaped hips and it draws the eye up to the knot feature. I added some small striangle shaped sleeves to give the arm a longer look and a tiny collar around the back of the neck.

The stretchy net is easy to hem with a rolled hem and easy to overlock the seams. The net fabric is great as you can create many different looks with different colours singlets underneath.

I love to hear feedback or ideas that you may have!
Thanks Lee-Anne

Versatile Skirt/Dress

I can tell this will be my favourite dress to make for summer! and in lots & lots of colours!

I cut a pattern from a friends skirt (thanks Rin) and I love it! Easy to make, looks great on, you can make it out of different types of fabric and you can wear it as a short skirt, long skirt & dress.

Here I made it out of a suiting that has lots of spandex in it, so it is super stretchy. I made the waist band in a different colour than the skirt, so it looks a bit different as a dress.
I love it so much that I made a dress out of a olive/brown patterned jersey material. This will be my most weared dress in summer!

There will definately be more of these to come! Let me know if like the idea of a Versatile Dress/Skirt?

Thanks to everyone who has kept checking my site! Lee-Anne

Cross Top

I got this pattern free from the Burda website. I think the material suits this top that crosses over at the front, I put long sleeves with a slit down the side of them to show off a bit of the arm.
I made a red singlet to go underneath, which compliments the red in the material.
Do you likewearning tops like this?

Versatile Wrap Top 3 & 4

I love this top! Here is the wrap top that I have previously made in Satin. I have made it is stretch jersey and it is great. I have already thought of 5 ways you can wear it. I made this one as a present, so I hope you like it Shannon! Happy 21st!

I made the below top of scraps and in a rush. I didn't expect it to be my favourite top this weekend! I wore the black longsleeve Micromesh top with it.

Let me know if you would wear this top and what would you wear it with?

Easy Black Pants

I made these black pants with Cavelli, which is a stretch fabric that feels so nice and soft. As I made them out of stretch i did not need a zip (Thank god!) and I put a thick waist band on that folds over. I thought them might look like Dance pants/PJ pants, but they don't! I was a bit worried about the material clinging to my skin, but the fabric falls really nice.Once you have a top on, it covers the waist area and you can't even tell they don't have the traditional zip, waist band & buttons. They are easy to make and easy to wear.

Do you prefer pants that are easy to wear or do you like fitted pants?
Enjoy the rainy weather in Perth!

Bat Wing Top

WOW... I nearly forogt my login & password, it's been so long since my last post! June & July are always busy for us.... apologies for no post. But I have been sewing and have drawn up lots of ideas I have!

I love this top too!!! A big thanks to Sally for the pattern. These tops are made out of stretch/knit fabrics and are so comfortable. The top has a wide neck line and the feature of a bat-wing effect under the arms and up the side seams.

I have made a few versions of these, here is the top with a very small bat-wing

Here is another version with a V neck and a large bat-wing, and i love it in this mesh fabric

I couldn't get the top to sit correctly on the dressmaking dummy, so I had to improvize....
A big thanks for everyone who keeps checking my website and for the feedback! I find feedback usefull.

Would you wear this top? and would you like it with long sleeves maybe??
Thanks
Lee-Anne

Mesh Tops

I really like this mesh fabric. The fabric has been out for a while and it comes in heaps of colours, but I didn't know what to do with it.... While doing our Sewing Inspiration Course, Sally showed us some tops she has been sewing with it. So here are the first lot of Mesh Tops that I have made.
It has a high neck-line, long arms and long in length (which sits over your pants)
Here is one in a beigh colour
I really like wearing them under something. You can wear summer tops, but keep the arms & tummy hidden. May not keep you too warm, though....It is easy to sew and you can use the raw edge of the fabric as the bottom hem.
Let me know if you like this style of top to wear under your summer tops?
I appreciate any feedback you have!
