HotPants & Bikini Bathers!

I love this fabric and thought of this design straight away!!! I love it!!! Another pair of bathers for swimming lessons.
The fabric is black with fluro coloured peace signs on it. The style is Hotpants with a Halter neck top. The shorts have a gather with a bow tie at the sides and the top has it at the centre front.

Too funky!!!!

I love sewing with lycra, just overlock and done! The fabric went great in the chlorinated hydrotherapy pool, but it was a very expensive fabric and I normally wouldn't spend that much on lycra, but it was too damn cute for 50cm.... A few adjustments to make and then they will be up for sale!

Christmas Catie Dress

Ever since Christmas I have wanted to put Talia's Christmas dress on her and get some photo's, I did it the other day and she has out-grown it...opps I guess "I missed the boat"... I used a red & white spotted coton with a red & white striped cotton for the bands and of course a fabric flower on the front and a matching headband!

.... .. Here are some pic's that I did get over christmas.... We had so many christmas parties to go to, but we only made it to 2 as we were all sick... Talia doesn't look impressed and Santa looks drunk in her official 2010 Christmas photo.. and our family photo is blurry... oh well.....

I used the "Catie Dress" pattern from Little Lizard King. I love using your patterns LLK, they are so quick & easy, which every busy mum needs! Check out their new website & store here!

I bought this children's display dummy when my favourite fabric store closed down for$10... Not sure if I like it, but maybe painting it white might help....

Polka-dot bathers

Here are some bathers I made for Talia to wear for her first swimming lesson. I thought the material was chlorine resistant, but they turned yellow within 10mins of being in a Hydrotherapy pool!!! which is a pitty, as I love this white & polka-dot fabric!

I didn't take any photo's before they went in the pool, so the fabric is not white anymore... I definately won't be using this fabric to make bathers for swimming lessons, however the fabric went great in the ocean. A few adjustments to be tested before I sew some of these to sell....

I do love this pattern and hopefully can find some fabric that will handle the chlorine...

This is the Talia after mummy chasing her around the house trying to get some good photo's.... ENOUGH MUMMY!!!!

Georgia Dress

I was asked to test a pattern a few months ago now..... I have finally got some photo's of the Georgia Dress pattern from Little Lizard King. It's too cute and was soooo easy to make! It has a gathered strip across the chest and back, I also added a fabric flower with a pink button onto the top.
It's for sale at Little Lizard King ETSY shop!

Up & Abouts Again!!!

Hi all,

Wow it has been a crazy few months and apologies for not blogging...... From Nov 2010 to Feb 2011 we have been so busy with so many things, most important, organising the sewing room! A huge thanks to my hubby who has wanted me to clean out the room for years, so he can make me the perfect desk for the machines, so we did it! He ripped apart the old table and whipped me up a new table! He even had some spare wood left to make Talia a little matching table! Now I just need a trip to Ikea to sort out storing everything, I have promised to keep the room tidy now.... ummm... maybe I shouldn't have made that promise, opps....

The night before we left for our holiday to Busselton, I whipped up some Rashie bathers for Talia. She also had some HeavenLee Creation bathers for her Swimming lesson this week!

I did a lot of sewing for Christmas, birthday's, testing patterns for Little Lizard King, which are always soo much fun!

For Christmas I sewed about 15 of these cute little skirts.. unfortunatley I was in such a hurry i forgot to take some photo's of them all, but here are 2 of Talia's fav's.... I used a pattern from Two Little Banshees, with a few extra ruffles added in...

And the most important of all, we are all finally healthy and well after our holiday! We left our flu germs in Busselton and they are staying there!!!

Hope everyone had a great christmas and holidays!

"In The Night Garden" party ideas

We had our daughters 1st birthday party and it was sooo much fun! She loves the show In The Night Garden (ITNG) and the character "Upsy Daisy" from the show, so we had a Upsy Daisy themed party for her. However, the party decorations were very limited! So I went on a mission to create my own and what a great way to let my imagination go crazy!
Bunting/Preyer Flags
I couldn't find any ITNG or Upsy Daisy material anywhere, so I bought some Size 5 PJ's of EBay for $1.50 and cut them up! Hubby thought I was crazy..... I used some scrap bright fushia pink cotton for the backing and ended up with over 30 flags! Rolled hemmed the edges and done! They looked great and I can't wait to decorate her room with them!

Milestone Daisy's
I bought a few sheets of orange and pink cardboard and cut out some large daisy's. On one side I had pictures of the ITNG characters and the other side I put photo's of my daughters milestones throughout her first year. I also used my scrapbooking scraps for some different paper and to write a brief description of her milestone. I'm going to put the daisy's in a scrapbook and with a few more photo's and she has her first year photobook done!

Name Banner
While I was cutting out a heap of Daisy's I kept some to make a Name Banner "1 TALIA 1". I glittered some letters for her name with pink glitter and used orange Rafia to tie them together. I have hung them in her room and she loves waking up looking at them.

Daisy Tags
I printed a heap of pictures of each of the characters and used them for various decorations. I glued the small round pictures (the size of Cupcake toppers) to the left over orange and pink card and made heaps of circle tags. I glued these to the end of Kebab sticks and we had ITNG Salad & Fruit kebabs, there were a hit with the kidlets. I also did some kebab sticks with daisys on and put them around the garden and the entry way. You can glue the little round cardboard pictures to anything, for example, straws, plastic cups, game prizes, name tags, champagne & wine labels, wine glasses tags, kebab sticks, cake decorations, lolly-pop sticks, party hats, party blowers, favour and lolly bags, blue tack some on the floor to create a path out to the garden (the kids loved looking at these on the floor)... Even make some Daisy toothpicks with a flower hole punch using the scrap cardboard......see pictures below for some idea's.

Ninky Nonk Juice
Every ITNG party needs some Ninky Nonk Juice! Download a picture from the internet and write "Ninky Nonk Juice" and stick this to some fruit punch and eski's!

Welcome Sign
Print out a picture of your childs favourite ITNG characher and write "Welcome to Talia's 1st Birthday party!"

ITNG Games
Here are a few game idea's. You can "Pin the blanket to Iggle Piggle" (we ran out of time to play this one). I cut a heap of red material into squares and photocopied a picture of Iggle Piggle onto A3. I printed out some colouring in "Upsy Daisy & Iggle Piggle Door Hangers" and left them for the kids to colour in, they loved it! You can get this from the BBC website. I gave the kids their own tag each with a different character and their name on the other side, they then had to find their present with their ITNG character on it, it kept them busy for a while.

Here are a few idea's for a kids party and most of them don't need any sewing! You can also apply these to any party theme, as you can get so many pictures from the internet now!
I hope I continue to do this for all my kids future birthdays party's! It was so much fun and they create the perfect party atmosphere. My husband thought I went a bit crazy, but they only have birthday party's once a year, so why not!
Enjoy! Lee-Anne
