Dress with Shirring

I have always wanted to try Shirring! Shirring is sewing with tiny elastic in the bobbin, it is very popular with dresses & tops right now. So, I had some good attempts and decided to make some tiny dresses for Jade & Madison from some remanent material that cost me 50c! I also got a headband out of it.

Here is Madison's dress!
Here is Jade's top!

I picked up a piece of remanent material in a lovely cherry colour and decided to make a Shirring dress, however all my other jobs keep getting pushed infront of it.

I will definately be doing more shirring, as it was not that difficult!

Enjoy your weekend! Lee-Anne

Baby Bibs & Change Mats

BABIES! BABIES! BABIES!!!! My closest cousins & friends have been having the cutest babies! Which is the perfect opportunity to create something cute for the little bubs. I have made some personalised bibs & change mats for them, I use strong cotton and waterproof lining. They loved them so much that I have decided it would be a good start for my Etsy shop.

Here is a sneak peak!

He, he, he arn't they cute!

Easter Egg Mascarpone Cheescake

I searched on the internet for an "Easter Egg Cheesecake" recipe and couldn't find one, so Donna from my work gave me a copy of a "Chocolate Mascarpone Cheesecake" that I converted for Easter deserts! Sorry, photo's doesn't do it justice (my dad hates cheesecake and he had seconds!)
Base:
250g chocolate creame biscuits, broken
1 cup walnuts
125g melter butter

Filling:
250g Easter Eggs or dark cooking chocolate, chopped
300ml thickened cream (however if your using easter eggs, add the cream gradually
500g mascarpone
1 tsp vanilla/peppermint or orange essence
1. Line your 22cm sping form tin with baking paper
2. Pulse biscuits in food processor until crumbs, add Walnut & butter, process again. Place 1/2 or 2/3 or mixture in your tin as the base. Refrigerate
3. Place chocolate & cream in pan. Stir over low heat until chocolate is melted & smooth. If using easter eggs, gradually add the cream as you might not need it all. Regrigerate for approx 30mins (stir occassionally)
4. Mix mascarpone & essence in a bowl and hand mix softly until smooth.
5. Place dollops of mascarpone into the chilled biscuit mixture and dollops of the chocolate between. Make swirls with the back of a fork and add more mixture until you use it all. Spoon over the remaining of the base. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight. Presto, done!

Easiest cheesecake I have made! Enjoy!

Funky Cup Holders

As I work in the office of an icecream factory, we are not allowed to have any ceramic, glass or breakables in the office. Therefore, we use polystyrene cups for alot of things. After putting my hands in my cuppa tea a few times instead of the paperclip cup, I knew we needed something to distinguish which was which. Easter was the perfect opportunity to make the girls and Kelvin some cup holders to jazz up our boring white cups.

I put our initals on the front and they look great!

Happy Easter to all!!

Welcome and some Cakes

It is very exciting starting up a Blog webpage. Please be patient while I set up my page.
I will be using this webpage to post sewing projects I complete and use to start up a part-time craft/sewing/hobby home-business that I have wanted to start up for a while. Thanks to everyone who has encouraged me to do something with my sewing and set up a part-time hobby. I wasn't going to set up a blog until I have started but thought it might be good to track my progress.
